POEMS WHILE YOU WAIT
Poets who write custom poems by request using manual typewriters
We are poets who write poems by request using our manual typewriters. Our mission is to appear around the city in public places — street festivals, museums, libraries, theaters, and events — to provide our patrons with a magical, unpretentious encounter with poetry. No requested topic is too big or too small, too funny or too sad, too silly or too serious. We also do personal events, like birthdays or weddings. Contact us if you’re interested in working with us.
“The paper is the portable experience, the time capsule, the art that was made between two human beings.”
– Dave Landsberger, Co-Funder of Poems While You Wait
“The aim is to provide the public an unexpected and unpretentious encounter with poetry, as well as to challenge ourselves with the improvisatory nature of the commissions.”
– Kathleen Rooney, Co-Founder of Poems While You Wait
“It’s kind of like teaching in the sense that whatever you do that day will be good. Whatever you do will be a positive, joyful contribution to the world.”– Eric Plattner, Co-Founder of Poems While You Wait
